In Costa Rica, parents don’t have to request birth certificates for registering at schools

If you are a parent in Costa Rica and need to register your son or daughter at school you don’t need to go to the Civil Registry for birth certificates.

After an agreement with the Ministry of Public Education (MEP) and the Civil Registry, it the the responsability of every educational center to verify the information directly with the Civil Registry.

The authorities at MEP consider it unnecesary that parents fill the offices of the registry obtain such a document.

Just last year, in 5 days, the Civil Registry emitted 30 thousand birth certificates for school registrations.
